This picture of the first powered, heavier-than air flight, by the Wright Brothers on December the 17th 1903, really amazes me. The aircraft covered a distance of about 50 meters and never rose more than 3 meters above the ground. How far-fetched and unstable that first feat seems to be! Yet it definitely flies, without the shadow of a doubt!
The fact that they had the presence of mind of using photography to record that very first flight - not the second or the third - is really awesome.
